What to do with leftover and forgotten 1/12 scale items.
Does anyone remember these wood hutches? Michael's used to sell them. I have had a few hanging around in my supplies for quite some time. Most broken and painted by my kids. lol
End Result!
Step 1. The beginning. Leftover kids painted hutch about to be transformed.
I took off the top trim and the base and the fake drawer knobs.
Step 2. Cardboard can transform anything!!!!! I just used cardboard from cereal boxes. I added cut cardboard around the base and then also used some for trim. I also used it to make fake drawer fronts and to add the arch on the front. I also cut a piece for the shelf. When you do this, it makes it look more substantial. Painted the inside green.
Step 3. Adding handles and small brass features to look like locks and drawer pulls.
Step 4. This is just some chipboard trim added to the top. I have painted the unit with black paint and then lightly used gold on the trim. Just added with a light touch to mimic antique.
Step 5. Add some distressing if you want? Use sandpaper to add distress to the sides of the unit to mimic wear on a piece of antique furniture.
Step 6. Have fun and add in small elements to complete your display. Making miniatures is such a expansive and creative hobby. You can literally make anything you want!
Have a great day!!!!
